I've been way busy w/ other things... like trying to get a Cave Creek Rd merchant's association started.

I began going door to door to businesses last spring, cold-calling and saying "hey, this strip is funky and junky, but with a little effort and some support from the City we could make it FUN and Funky instead... whaddaya say?"

Why CC Rd? 'Cause it's got a lot of cool local mom n pop businesses and it's very near where I live. Don't like to see vacant storefronts that attract creeps and punks up to no good.

We're starting to gain traction now,a core of merchants are taking ownership of the concept and the City is on board - Councilman Bill Gates is very supportive, and the Community and Economic Development and Neighborhood Services Departments are giving us a major assist; even the Small Business Development arm of the community colleges will be lending a hand.

It's essentially economic development and community building; an organized effort to make the area "feel" better and market it as a a fun place for locals and wider Metro-area residents to shop and find local services.

Have also been doing some "CERT" (Community Emergency Response Team) and "PNP" (Phoenix Neighborhood Patrol) training and activities.

In short I guess it could be said that I've been "going local" in a big way.

Looking forward to riding again soon - the NHS has been down for nearly two months now (!!) for various repairs, but we'll be mobile again sometime next week.

Haven't had even one of my motos working for the last two months - talk about losing one's mojo! Being moto and MOJO-less just ain't no good...

Hope to be back in the saddle again really soon, though, perhaps even as early as tomorrow, on the Nighthawk S.

The Feejer needs some time spent twisting wrenches; right now it's down to the bare frame for a motor swap. I found a crashed (totalled) '05 w/ about 10k on it down at Bobs, so the lump, all externals and even both front and rear suspension and driveline will be bolted onto my 135k mile frame.

Just money separates me from miles, like "just money" keeps me from putting a Porsche Cayman in the garage
